From the time I brought Sabre home from Abidjan Kennel (Cathy and Ed Nasierowski)
he was my heart dog.  We started doing obedience training right away, but capturing that
CD title was not for the faint of heart.  While working toward the CD, Sabre was picking up breed
points and also got his JC.

At the 1994 Borzoi Club of Greater New York, Sabre did me proud.  He won the Veteran Dog Class,
Versatility Class, Best in Versatility and an Award Of Merit.  I was beyond thrilled.  Sabre’s last
two shows were the 1997 BCOA National in Atlanta where he won his 9-10 year old Veteran Sweeps
class as well as making several cuts in the Best of Breed ring.   He followed that up with a BOS in
Veteran Sweeps at the 1st Canadian National.

Sabre sired 3 litters, containing 16 pups.  There are 4 American/Canadian champions,
2 American champions, 1 Canadian champion and 1 Peruvian champion.  There is a
Best In Specialty Show, Best In Field, Best Puppy in Specialty Show, Best of Opposite
Sex in Specialty Show.  There are Specialty class winners and a World Dog Show winner.

With Sabre’s passing my heart has yet to heal.  He is that once in a lifetime dog.

 Dear Sabre,
I see you as a baby,
All cute and cuddly.
I see you at 8 months old,
All gangly and gawky.
I see you at two years
All grown and regal.
I see you running the fields,
Flying like an eagle.
But, dear Sabre
These things I see only. . . .
In my mind’s eye.
The time has come for you to leave,
The time has come for you to say goodbye.
But, dear Sabre,
In my mind’s eye,
You will always be. . . .
The cuddly baby,
The gawky puppy,
The regal adult,
Running with the wings of eagles,
In my mind’s eye.

- from my heart Pat Hardy
